At the beginning of a project I typically start on paper. It helps me to feel out a drawing, and I really like the gritty texture I get on my linework. When sketching out this drawing I tried to focus on the balance in each half of the drawing.
After I have refined a sketch to my liking, I scan it in digitally and manipulate it in photoshop to get a clean layer of line work that I can then color.
This is the longest part of the process. It involves a lot of going back and forth, blending and erasing until I feel like the whole piece looks unified.
The final stage of any illustration is putting in detail with a very fine brush. This step is my favorite part of creating because it really polishes a piece to perfection.
